NOBC-APRL-CoLAP Joint Committee on Aging Lawyers Final Report

In September 2013, NOBC and NPRL, Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL), together with the American Bar Association’s Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs (CoLAP), appointed a Second Joint Committee on Aging Lawyers to further study the manner in which the legal profession is preparing for its aging lawyer population and to follow-up on previous recommendations.

 You are invited to “Mentoring in our Evolving Profession,” a national conference on the importance of mentoring in our rapidly changing legal profession. 

It will be held on May 1-3, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. Sponsored by the National Legal Mentoring Consortium and the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Professionalism, and cosponsored by the ABA Center on Professional Responsibility and the American Inns of Court, this conference will bring together leaders from bar associations, courts, law schools, law firms, and other legal organizations to discuss how to promote, establish, and support successful mentoring experiences.  Conference speakers include authors of highly respected mentoring publications and leaders of innovative mentoring programs from throughout the country and abroad.  The registration fee is $125, which includes meals throughout the conference programming.

Robert A. Hawley is the
2014 Recipient of the President's Award

Robert A. Hawley, Deputy Executive Director of the State Bar of California, has been awarded the 2014 National Organization of Bar Counsel President’s Award for his many noteworthy contributions to the legal profession.

Pursuant to the National Organization of Bar Counsel Bylaws, Article XVII, Section 5, notice is hereby given of proposed amendments to the NOBC Bylaws pertaining to membership in the NOBC.  The text of the proposed amendments can be accessed by clicking here.  The petition seeking the amendments has received a majority vote of the NOBC Board of Directors and ratification of the proposed amendments will be sought at the NOBC Business Meeting at the Conrad  Hotel, Chicago Illinois on Friday, February 7, 2014 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Central Standard Time.
